Sing Sing Prison

Sing Sing was one of the first prisons in the country, a product of a new "reform" movement (hence the word "reformatory"). When Jimmy Cagney got sent "up the river" in all those '30's crime movies, this is where he got sent.

Althougn the prison itself is closed to tourists, there is an exhibit at the Ossining Community Center which includes a replica electric chair made by prisoners in 1931.
